Upgraded!

It's not first class, but it's better than coach!

British Airways offers an upgrade for an extra $250 to World Traveller Plus class. It's no where near first class, but I took it.

In addition to what appears to be slightly wider seats with quite a bit more leg room, they offer the following ammenities:

  • Laptop connectivity: "First, Club World Business, and World Traveler Plus all feature in-seat laptop power connections. There are no connections in the standard World Traveler class."
  • Video options: "First features individual personal video screens offering interactive games and up to 18 video channels plus a choice of 25 films exclusively for their Personal Video Player. Club World Business features personal video screens featuring interactive games and offering up to 18 channels of the latest film and television programs. In World Traveler or World Traveler Plus, every seat on long haul flights has its own 6.3 inch LCD video screen offering 12 video channels and a flight information channel. World Traveler Plus adds interactive games."
So for $250 (for the Boston to London leg of the trip), I get my own tv to watch with movies, a place to plug in my laptop, video games to play and a bit more room. I think it's definitely worth it. Also, I found out that today's flight is FULL, so I'm very glad to have the extra room!

I had to take an aisle seat because that's all there was left, but that's okay.

I have no idea if the flight to Dubai will be full, but I'm going to try to upgrade for that leg of the flight as well. $500 of upgrades for just half the trip is kind of a lot, but the trip from London to Dubai is like 8 hrs.

I'm sure I would probably be willing to sell my soul for an upgrade midway through that flight after traveling since 5AM this morning, so if $500 is the going rate for sanity, sign me up. Plus, it's a business expense! :)

$500 is a small price for personal space and comfort. I hope the rest pf your trip is as good.
