Flying the friendly skies

My alarm went off at 4:15 this morning. That's early! Darcy dropped me off at Logan at 6, as planned. My flight departs at 8:20, but I like to be early just. in. case.

The TSA employee examining my passport exclaimed, "My, this is a brand new passport!" You betcha. I just got it yesterday! She asked to see a license as well. Glad I brought it!

I set off the security alarm about 10 times. At first I forgot that I had my phone in my pocket. Then we had no idea what it was. I was expecting a pat down, but finally the woman noticed my shirt has metal buttons. Duh. What kind of idiot wears a metal button shirt to the airport??!!

I took my shirt off, and thankfully had one on underneath - can you imagine if I hadn't???!!, and then I was good to go. They were very nice about it, and the poor woman behind me was joking with me about the whole thing. She is much more patient than most!

I got a muffin, ate my breakfast, and was settled into my seat to wait to board the plane by 6:30. Oy.

I'm hoping the staff arrives soon, so that I can check into the cost of upgrading. It's a LONG flight, and I would be oh so happy to spend it in first class. I'm sure every one else will be asking the same thing, so in a few minutes, I'm going to move my seat to the area right by the gate.

Cross your fingers for a fairly empty flight! Although I can't imagine a flight from Boston to London leaving on a Saturday morning would be empty. Oh well! It will be just fine.

I'll arrive in Dubai at 11:40 PM EST, and 7:40 AM their time. I left the house at 5AM, and I'll probably get to the hotel around 12:30 AM EST, so that's a LONG day of travels.
