It's an old techie phrase from back in the day. If the data you input is junk, the results will be junk/worthless as well. The quality of the reports you run are only as good as the data you input to generate them.
Our bodies are the same way. If we fill them with garbage, they are going to be useless to us. For the past week or so, I've been lazy about eating healthy. I've had so much on my plate, I hadn't taken the time to make great food choices.
The result? I feel like junk, and what was I expecting? Garbage in, garbage out. Even in the busiest of times, I need to remember that I will perform better in all areas if I choose healthier fuel. When I'm swamped and busy and overworked, that's the LAST time I should be taking shortcuts with my food choices - it's those times when I need to be the most conscious.
It's hard to find healthy options when you're rushing around, but it can and must be done.
I wanted to find a way to remind myself that my health needs to always be a priority, so being the complete weirdo that I am, I just ordered 10 reminder bands (just in case any of you want in on the action), and they are red and say "Garbage In, Garbage Out" on them. I think the lesson applies to more than just food anyway.

Enjoy reading your blog. Love the "Choosing Joy" title. Too many of us leave this world without even learning that we have choices!
With everything in your plate this week, you stopped to order bracelets that say, "Garbage in - Garbage Out"....lol. You are a whack job!!
It's difficult to eat right when we're busy but it's so important to make the effort since eating garbage makes us feel like garbage... as you said.
