I could have kissed the ground in my hotel room when I finally arrived...but that would have been gross. ;-)
The second leg of my flight was fine. I didn't upgrade because it would have been $2500 (ha!), but thankfully, there was no one next to me in coach, so I had a perfectly comfortable ride. No laptop outlets, but I didn't even use it when I had it on the way. No video games either, but I still had a tv screen with movies and tv shows to choose from, and with the extra seat next to me, it was quite comfortable.
I have many, many things to say about my trip (naturally!), but I just wanted to provide a quick update. It's almost 4PM in Dubai, and I just woke up 45 minutes ago. Looking out my window, I just realized there is a really cool rooftop pool at a hotel next to mine. That is neat.
Anyway, I'm going to ease my way into Dubai, and I can't believe it, but I'm going to make my first stop the Mall of the Emirates. I wasn't even planning to visit a mall, but when I arrived, I saw that the city is very spread out, and you can't walk anywhere due to the heat and the fact that drivers will not even attempt to break for pedestrians, so I'm just going to check out the mall, dipping my toe into the pool of Dubai. :)
The mall has an indoor ski area, something like an amusement park, a movie theater, good restaurants, and I'm sure disposable cell phones which I want to pick up.
I'll keep you posted!

Glad you made it ok, I look forward to hearing all about it.
I heard about that mall and the indoor skiing - it's world famous, obv... I'm sure it's worth seeing.
Have a great time sightseeing and be careful.
Sounds like the mothership was calling me home. I would have come had I known about the mall
